Emily & Chris | Engagement Session | Atlanta Engagement Photographer

Here are some images from my engagement shoot with Emily and Chris at Piedmont Park.

They’ll be getting married in Savannah, GA at the end of this year. I thought it was fun that they were the first couple I shot this year (on 1/1/12) and they’ll most likely be the final clients I shoot for the year (their wedding is 12/29/12).

New Year, New Look

If you take a look at some posts previous to this one, you’ll notice a different branding on the images. Well, I’m currently in the process of shaking things up a bit. I wasn’t very thrilled with my previous wordmark and really wanted to add a touch of color. As for my site’s design, I was mostly happy, but knew I could make it better.

Now, I absolutely love the layout.

Perhaps what I love most are the BIG images. I love my clients and the work I do for them and I want potential clients to see that. Viewing images online can be a drag sometimes- there are compression issues, different screen resolutions, and many times images are just too small! And small images don’t do justice to beautiful imagery.

As for my wordmark/logo, I had been playing around with the idea to use my company’s initials. However, felt like I still needed to incorporate the full name too. So, I ended up with this:

I hope you like it as much as I do. One thing I really enjoyed working through was deciding on fonts. I love typography and a good font makes me happy. My logo incorporates the fonts Chunk Five and Helvetica Neue.

So please excuse the mess around here as I transition over to the new look . I’ll be changing some of the older post to include the new look but not sure I’ll get to all of them.

I recently traveled to South Carolina to shoot Jess and Michael’s wedding. Their ceremony and reception were at the wonderful Creek Club at I’on (on Facebook). Soul Fish provided the music.

Allie & Lance | Sundown Farms Plantation | South Georgia Wedding Photographer

Recently I posted images from Allie and Lance’s engagement shoot. Here’s a selection of images from their wedding day at Sundown Farms Plantation.

While the girls were eating breakfast and starting to get ready, all the guys spent some time skeet shooting. I was amazed at the abilities these guys have. I tried a few times with not so much luck… I had no problem hitting the pond though.

Around mid-afternoon it started to get a bit windy but thankfully the rain stayed away to make it through the ceremony. There was a brief shower during the cocktail hour but it passed and the night went on! It was a gorgeous night for an outdoor reception.

Allie & Lance | Stone Mountain, GA | Engagement Shoot

In October, Allie and Lance will be getting married in Moultrie, GA at Sundown Farms Plantation. A few weeks ago, they were visiting Atlanta so we had a chance to knock out their engagement photos before they returned home.

Usually I’ll shoot engagement sessions in the early evening but it had been so hot we decided to beat the heat and start in the morning! Not only did we have much cooler temps, but we had some gorgeous weather to go along with it.

Nate is a singer/songwriter/worship pastor that I’ve known for… quite a long time. About 10ish years? I’m a few years older than Nate, but I remember when we were both students way back when.

A while ago we started talking about taking some music promo shots. Some time passed and it came up again so we finally nailed down a time and made it happen. He was great to work with and we even finished the evening with a meal at The Varsity- niiice.

Gotta love Atlanta.

Steph & Matt | Alpharetta, GA

The day of Steph & Matt’s wedding, there were storms all around the area. I drove through a downpour on my way to the getting ready location. As guests were arriving for the ceremony, it looked and felt like something nasty was brewing.

But the wind calmed down, the storm clouds cleared a bit, and there was no rain the entire day! Check out the shot of the weather radar on a BlackBerry in the slideshow. Very cool. And there was even a gorgeous sunset.

At the reception, Funk Sandwich provided the music (amazing band) and Five Star Day of Athens catered (incredibly delicious food… seriously. When in Athens, eat there.).

Laura & Ty | Atlanta, GA

I had a chance to assist Carrie Tabb for Laura and Ty’s wedding. The ceremony was at The Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and their reception was at Summerour Studio.

Towards the end of the ceremony, Laura hopped on the drums. That was pretty awesome and definitely a first!

Amy & John | Atlanta, GA

Amy & John planned for an outdoor wedding at the Atlanta History Center but bad weather moved the ceremony inside to the Grand Overlook ballroom. Even though it was a last minute change, their ceremony was gorgeous and it looked as if they were planning to have it there all along. Thankfully, the rain let up long enough to let us play outside. It stormed pretty hard during their ceremony (which made for a pretty cool backdrop) and right as they were leaving. There was some cool lightning that I was able to grab a few shots of right after they left.

They had an awesome choreographed first dance (you can see them doing some last minute practicing right before the reception) and fun props at the reception that everyone had a blast using.
